Most of this is ordinary stuff you already own. The trick is having it unpacked and reachable on day one, not somewhere in a stack of forty identical boxes.

The first night
Bedding and towels come out first. A proper night's sleep is worth more than any amount of unpacking, and you will do the rest faster for having had one. Add the toiletries, the phone chargers and something to sleep in, and the night is covered.
A kitchen that works
A kettle, one decent pan, plates, mugs and cutlery for however many of you there are will get you through three days of meals without opening a box. Bin bags and loo roll sound too obvious to write down, right up until you are the household without them.
Cleaning and repairs
Keep cloths, spray and the hoover reachable, not buried, because you will want them before you want anything else. A small toolkit and a couple of spare bulbs handle the loose shelf and the dead landing light that every house seems to come with.
Getting the utilities into your name
Citizens Advice's instruction for the new address is short: "contact the current supplier at your new home to tell them you've moved in." Do it in the first few days, quoting the readings you took on the day, and the first bill arrives correct, not estimated.

Do the first two from your phone on the first evening. They are the ones with a legal reason behind them, and both take less time than finding the box with the kettle in it.
This sits in the move, after the jobs for the first hour and the checklist of who to tell. When the practical week is over and the wall is still bare, a new home gift made from a photo of the house is the piece that says which house this was.
