The Bay Window

Look closely at the bottom of the window. A tabby cat is curled up asleep on the sill, beside a pot of pink geraniums. Behind it, a cushion in a zigzag and diamond pattern lines the window seat, and the tall arched panes are filled with deep green. The bay sits in a wall of coloured blocks, and leafy stems climb up both sides.

The style is a clean mid-century graphic, which means flat shapes, simple outlines and a small, bold set of colours. Here those are teal, deep green, mustard, rust and cream. It is more of a pattern than a painting, and it sits happily in a modern home. It suits cat lovers, of course, and anyone who likes a bit of colour and shape on the wall. Try it in a kitchen, a study or a living room.

A word on the wider formats: the cat is at the very bottom of the tall picture. On the poster, wood and metal print the crop keeps the arched panes and the cushion, and the cat is cut off or just peeking in. The framed poster and the mug show the cat in full, curled on its sill.
