Coats on pegs and a lamp on the table, in ochre and teal oils
The Hallway, metal print
Is there a better sight after a long day than your own hallway? Here, coats in green, teal and mustard hang on a row of pegs, with scarves and a leather bag among them. A dark wooden table holds a lamp with a patterned shade, a bowl, a stack of books, a rack of letters and a jug of dried flowers. Wellies and shoes stand on a mat, the floor is laid with teal and white tiles, and a framed landscape and a mirror hang on the warm walls.
It is painted in oils with lively, loose brushwork. Ochre and teal are the two main colours, warmed by the light of the lamp. It feels like a real family home, a little busy and very welcoming. It suits a busy household, a new homeowner, or anyone who has just spent a weekend tiling a hall floor. Hang it in the hall itself, or in a kitchen or snug.
The tall original shows the ceiling and the tiled floor. On metal, framed canvas and the poster the picture is cropped to the coats, the lamp and the table, with only the tops of the boots in view. Our new home gifts have more ideas.
