There's no need to stage anything elaborate; keeping things low-key usually goes down better than a tightly planned itinerary. A short tour lets guests see the place properly and gives you a natural way to talk about the move. Food doesn't need to be elaborate: a potluck spreads the effort and the cost, or simple nibbles and drinks work just as well.
